For too much of our life we strive to maintain our perch on top of the mountain built from ego. We struggle to acquire and wear the accoutrements of stature and accomplishment, announcements to the world that we are of value and prestige. But there comes a time in many men’s lives where this place we occupy, and guard feels hollow. At this point men either ignore this feeling and evolve into angry and disillusioned souls, or they cast off from familiar lands in search for meaning and purpose.
The journey down from this mountain leads to the abyss where shadows and fears stalk you. They threaten your very existence and challenge you to return from where you came. The ultimate challenge to any man, retreat to the known or venture forward at risk to losing the edifice that you strove so hard and long to build. You push on because you are on a quest that God imprinted on you. This is a path that you fear to share with others because so few can understand.
As you emerge from the muck and briars, bruised, and cut, you cast your eyes on a new mountain built from meaning and purpose. This new mountain kisses the clouds and beacons your ascent. The path upwards is no less daunting but this time you are sure of foot, and clear in focus. A man who now has clarity in vision and is not dissuaded by expected stumbles and falls. And there will be falls. This is the journey of adventurous souls who proceed not for accolades, but rather to be true to their divine design. This is the destiny of all men. Godspeed.
