Rules of the Road

In the search for my next passion, I immerse myself in conversations with creatives and people who are making it on their own. These are people who get up in the morning bright eyed and ready to apply their craft. I also spend the early morning visiting online sites such as chasejarvis.com and GaryVaynerchuk.com, guys that I idolize. These are my takeaways. First, the most important audience is you. Be authentic and the audience will follow. Second, don’t wait until you perfect your craft before you put it out there. Just put it out there, now! Watch, learn and evolve. There will always be haters but even the haters give you market feedback that helps guide your evolution. Third, it’s all about your ongoing growth and transformation as an artist. You can’t pick a predefined destination for your journey. Start the process, buckle your seatbelt, and be pliable. It’s the journey, the struggle, and the personal growth that matters. Fourth, whatever you do, own it man! Don’t complain about the struggle, the rejection and disappointment. You chose the path, now make it yours. Whatever is your craft, whether it be selling used cars or producing music, these are the rules of the road. Things that are worthwhile are never easy. Just the fact that you are listening to your heart and doing what you were put on this earth to do is what matters. Now, wipe that shit-eating grin off your face.
